Science
AP Environmental Science - In this course you will explore and investigate the interrelationships of the natural world and analyze environmental problems, both natural and human-made. You’ll take part in laboratory investigations and field work. Skills you will learn include: (1) Explaining environmental concepts and processes; (2) Analyzing data, visual representations, and writings; (3) Applying quantitative methods in solving problems; (4) Proposing a solution for an environmental problem and supporting your idea with evidence; (5) Analyzing a research study to identify a hypothesis. This course culminates with the AP® Environmental Science Examination and a potential college credit.
AP Biology - In this course you will study the core scientific principles, theories, and processes that govern living organisms and biological systems. You’ll do hands-on laboratory work to investigate natural phenomena. Skills you will learn include: (1) Designing experiments and procedures to test a prediction or theory; (2) Collecting and analyzing data; (3) Interpreting data to draw conclusions; (4) Developing and supporting a scientific claim with evidence. This course culminates with the AP® Biology Examination and a potential college credit.
Chemistry - The course emphasizes an in depth understanding of major concepts rather than memorization of science facts. Key topics covered include: atomic concepts, the Periodic Table of elements, moles/stoichiometry, bonding, physical behavior of matter, kinetics/equilibrium, organic chemistry, oxidation-reduction reactions, acids, bases and salts, and nuclear chemistry; historical content, the scientific method, uncertainty in measurement, significant figures and SI units are included in the introduction of the core. This course culminates with the NYS Physical Setting/Chemistry Regents Examination
Physics - This Physical Setting course emphasizes an in depth understanding of major concepts rather than memorization of science facts. Key Ideas covered include: mechanics, energy, electricity and magnetism, waves, and modern physics; historical content, uncertainty in measurement, significant figures and SI units are included in the introduction of the core. This course culminates with the NYS Physical Setting/Physics Regents Examination
Psychology (AP / Non-AP Options) - Explore the ideas, theories, and methods of the scientific study of behavior and mental processes. You will examine the concepts of psychology through reading and discussion and you will analyze data from psychological research studies. AP Psychology is a virtual class. Non-AP Psychology is an in-person class.
