College Financial Accounting - This hybrid course through the University of Pittsburgh helps students become informed users of firms’ external financial accounting reports. The basic structure and contents of such reports and the process by which they are prepared will be studied. Discussion will involve what items are included in financial accounting reports, how such items are measured, and how various economic events affect the reports. An understanding of what can be inferred from the reports about the past performance, present position, and future prospects of the firm will be developed. Class will be hybrid, and you must meet admission requirements to enroll in this class
Accounting - This course provides students with an understanding of the accounting process and how it facilitates decision making by providing data and information to internal and external stakeholders. Students learn that accounting is an integral part of all business activities. They learn how to apply technology to accounting by creating formulas and inputting data into spreadsheets. Students learn the use of computerized accounting software and examine career opportunities and the professional certifications and designations earned by individuals in the accounting profession.
Financial Algebra - This course strengthens students understanding of both mathematics and finance through rigorous tasks and projects that connect the worlds of business and algebra
AP Computer Science Principles - Get familiar with the concepts and tools of computer science as you learn a subset of the Java programming language. You'll do hands-on work to design, write, and test computer programs that solve problems or accomplish tasks. The course culminates in the College Board AP Computer Science Principles Exam. Skills you will learn include: (1) Designing a program, developing the algorithms it needs, and writing code to implement them; (2) Testing program code and correcting errors. (3) Documenting and explaining how program code works
*You must have previously taken and passed Algebra II. No programming or computer science experience is required*
Global Business and Finance - This one semester course provides students with an understanding of how and why businesses choose to expand their operations into other countries. It exposes students to challenges facing firms doing business internationally, as well as potential opportunities and markets. Building on concepts that were introduced in Principles of Finance, this course broadens student understanding of how businesses operate and grow in our ever-changing world.
Virtual Enterprise - Virtual Enterprises (VE) is a simulated business that is set up and run by students with the guidance of a teacher/facilitator and a business partner. This program allows students to experience, in a simulated business environment, all facets of being an employee in a firm. The Virtual Enterprise involves students in every aspect of a business, including human resources, accounting, product development, production, distribution, marketing and sales. This workplace simulation enables students to understand how employees, workgroup teams, and departments interact with each other and work together for the goal of the company. This course culminates with a business competition
