New York State Graduation requirements for the arts include one unit (one year) in visual arts and/or music, dance, or theater. In New York City, one unit of credit is the equivalent of approximately 108 hours of instruction by a licensed arts teacher.
 

Our Courses:

Required Art: 
In this introductory art class we will explore different art materials, try new techniques, and dive into our stories that we can tell to others. We will explore techniques such as painting, drawing, pastels, printmaking, digital art/design, and sculpture through various projects. During these projects we will discuss topics such as identity, activism, problem solving, storytelling and more.  Throughout we discuss contemporary art as well as topics from art history.
 
Advanced Art:
In this advanced art course students will continue many of the topics learn in required art with an increased emphasis on their own personal interests and styles.  Students are able to work more independently and create artwork that explores their identity and have a voice in their work.  While diving deeper in to more advanced techniques and materials, we discuss contemporary art as well as topics from art history.
 
Mixed Media:
